WW Archery

Uncle Bear took his life in his hands, or perhaps in Abigail's hands.

The annual driven boar hunt actually happened twice this weekend - All the ladies in the hall were invited to take a bow and stand on the balcony for live target practice.

The guys were such good sports. They even brought us back the arrows so that we could shoot them some more. Eli even got in on the fun.

Winter Weekend 2012

This year marked the 29th annual Winter Weekend event. Jami and Luke came down again, and there were some of the other familiar faces in the throng, too. Greg (Uber-Duke Gregory) and his son Alex joined our shinanigans for the whole merry weekend.

There were board games going nearly at all times, of course.
Jami, why do you look so suspicious? There's never anything foul or sinister going on in Munchkin...

All is well; she got her ghoul-lash!

At the other end of the table, there was less goofing off! Aunt Pat worked on beading, Carlean was knitting, and I was finishing hemming garb (for that weekend of course.)

 That's a mischevious smile, Carlean...

Despite sitting at the table wrapped up most of the time, Luke actually did get out and may have even had fun. (Or at least we think so because there was a smile or two caught on camera!) Abi spent her time up by the stone hearth when she had breaks between homework and games.

Winter Weekend Prep

And now the sewing projects come out....

This plaid flannel will be Abi's new pajamas. She has outgrown a lot of the garb from last year. The nice thing about bog gowns, is that you have very little waste. The scraps in my hand are all that I will end up throwing away from the 4 yards of fabric.

Below are the never-ending-coat project. If I ever actually get them done, I will post pics. And open a bottle of champagne!

Peace

Router and Suki were so happy that the family was all back, they were even getting along with each other for the first couple of days...

A Hike Around the Kuna Farm

Mom and Jami and I took Eli for a hike today, since he was full of energy. It turned out to be a lovely walk and we were accompanied by my Dad and then Luke and Shaun.

Some artsy B&W shots by Jami:

And the boys had fun playing in the empty canal, too.

We had breathtaking sunsets the last two nights in Idaho. What a finale to the holidays!

New Years Games

Though we didn't get the Rose Parade on New Year's morning this year (because when the 1st falls on a Sunday aparently they have to hold it on Monday instead!), we did still have our favorite breakfast, cheesy bread and egg casserole. There weren't any boetter letters left over after the previous night's gaming however...

We had several late-night gaming sessions, including our favorites: Settlers of Catan, and Speed Uno. This year there were a couple of new additions to the fun: Settlers of America, and Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit.

And yes, you are correct, Red - Gandalf's horse in the first movie was a Sorrel.

On our last night, Matt showed Luke a new program for mixing music tracks, and Jacinda started assembling a memories quilt.

Ever helpful, Matt was taking care of the scraps for Jacinda...
